WHAT IS The EASTER SEASON?

Most people are familiar with Easter Sunday, but Easter is actually a whole season! The Easter season takes place for 50 days after Easter Sunday until the events of Pentecost (more on that later!), where Jesus continued to teach and minister to his disciples and others before his ascension back to the Father.

Below, you will learn more about our upcoming Easter worship series for this year and how you can be a part!

WHAT DOES The Season of EASTER 2024 LOOK LIKE AT MOUNTAIN PARK UMC?

The Easter story is an amazing account of Jesus overcoming death by walking out of the tomb into new life. Resurrection is a source of hope and abundance for all of us because it means that the worst parts of our life-story aren’t the end of our story.  Jesus has given us His victory of Resurrection so that we might have new life and life everlasting. The Easter story isn’t something we only remember, it’s also something to celebrate and live into today. As we live out the Resurrection, our life-story becomes a part of the greater, ongoing Easter story that is still unfolding today. As we celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus, we know that the tomb is empty and we are invited to live like it!

What’s next?

The season of Easter leads us to the following season of Pentecost, where we observe the events of the Holy Spirit descending and empowering Jesus’ disciples to follow the Way, the Truth, and the Life. This is the birth of the church and how the movement of God’s transforming love continued to change the world.

We invite you to learn more and join us for this special season of Pentecost.
