Building a foundation of faith.
At Mountain Park UMC we believe that children are important members in the family of God and our church. It is our goal to partner with parents in the spiritual formation of children from birth through 5th grade and strive to equip parents with the tools they need to support faith development at home.
Mountain Park Kids wants to help children know and build a relationship with a kind and loving God. We want children to get to know and learn about the Bible. We want our children to learn what it means to have a servant heart. We want to empower children to express their faith and be leaders in our congregation and community. MP Kid’s ministry works towards these goals by offering a variety of discipleship, worship, and mission opportunities. Mountain Park Kids ministry is committed to leading all of our programming/experiences in a safe, nurturing, positive, and fun environment.
Sunday School is offered for children from the age of 2 years (as of September 1 of the program year) through 5th grade. Sunday School meets every Sunday from 9:45-10:45a.m. Children of all ages attending Sunday School have the opportunity to learn about God’s word, faith, and being a witness. Children attending Sunday School will enjoy a variety of activities such as interactive Bible stories, games, crafts, and other engaging activities.
The Nursery at MPUMC is offered for our youngest children. The primary focus for our babies (6 weeks to 23 months) is to provide a safe, loving, and nurturing place so that parents can worship freely without worrying about their little one. Two year olds in our nursery care begin to learn about God through simple stories and songs, and also enjoy playtime in a welcoming, nurturing, and safe environment.
Worship in the “park”
Kids Worship in the Park is for those children in Kindergarten- 5th grade and meets every Sunday morning at 11:00a.m., except for the first Sunday of the month. WIP provides a place for kids to worship and develop a growing relationship with Jesus. Students help to lead the service through songs, reading scripture, offering prayers, and even writing some of the liturgy. The service is aligned with other worship services so that families may continue the discussion at home. The first Sunday of the month is reserved for family worship and we invite families to worship together in one of our worship services.
Wee Worship is a special worship experience designed just for preschoolers and takes place on Sunday mornings at 11:00a.m. During this time preschoolers experience engaging Bible Stories, songs, and a time of fellowship and play with other children.

Worship Arts Ministry (or W.A.M.)
Kids W.A.M. (K-5th grade) will allow our children to explore a variety of ways to worship including music, art, drama, dance, and technology. With this emphasis, our children will have the opportunity to learn more about why we worship, how we worship, and the many different ways to share their individual gifts and talents to glorify God. Through WAM we hope to empower our children to grow deeper in their relationship with God, to express their faith by tapping into their creativity, and to give them opportunities to lead their peers and our congregation in worship. We gather from 6:15 p.m. - 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday in our Worship in the “Park” space.
Wee W.A.M. (preschool) allows our preschoolers to begin to explore the idea of worship and to begin to lay the foundation for positive experiences the church. They have the opportunity to learn about God and the Bible, sing, and participate in various art and mission experiences. We gather from 6:15 p.m. - 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday in our Preschool Hall.
