The open hand can symbolize many different things for many different people.  An open hand can be an invitation to come along side someone and connect through holding hands together.  An open hand can be an invitation to share something that someone else needs.  An open hand can be an opportunity to catch something that someone wants to throw your way and an open hand can be a symbol of praise, grace, and connection as we reach to the heavens above in glory and exultation.  An open hand can be a vision for what is yet to come.

In many ways, Mountain Park UMC and the community where God has planted us is filled with open hands.  Open hands that are ready to offer someone a warm touch to share how much we care.  We have open hands that are ready to receive connections of grace and love that come in many forms like food, jackets, blankets, and resources that many in our community need.  We have open hands that help people find their way when they are lost.  We have open hands that reach to God, delighted and in awe of how God works in our world through the generosity, grace, and greater gratitude that pours out of us when we follow Jesus, the risen Christ.

This season, as we move into Thanksgiving and Advent, we invite each and every member, friend, and neighbor to join us in discovering, discerning and sharing in our vision for the future as the people of MPUMC go out into the world to love and serve our neighbors.  We will be sharing the stories of how God has been gracious to us and given us a sense of greater gratitude for all the blessings that are part of our lives.  We will be listening and learning how God is speaking to each member of MPUMC to continue to be the place of grace and love for all in this community throughout this season and beyond.  We will be inviting members, friends, and neighbors to consider what it looks like and what it means to share the blessings God has offered us by being good stewards of the gifts God has given.  We wholly believe that we serve a God of abundance and through God’s great abundance in our lives we will all have an attitude of “Greater Gratitude” for the vision God has for our future together.

This is why we want each of you to take time to prayerfully consider how God is calling, inviting, and nudging you to stretch and grow with open hands to discover the abundance of blessings that God has for all of us.  God’s abundance can come in many forms.  If you have time to give, we invite you to commit time to serving God through MPUMC. If you have financial resources to give, we invite you to commit to supporting God’s mission through a commitment for 2023.  If you have leadership skills and gifts to offer, we invite you to let us know how you hear God calling you to use those leadership skills for God’s work in the world through MPUMC.  All these gifts are useful in God’s mission and God invites us all to offer these gifts in many ways.

Each Sunday throughout November you are invited to offer these gifts out of our attitude of “Greater Gratitude,” in the offering plate.  Using the commitment cards, or the online form, we ask that you put your commitments in writing and then drop them in the plate or hit “submit,” as a way to be accountable to God through our community of faith.  At the end of the month, we will take these gifts and have a celebratory meal on December 11th as a faith community ready, willing, and open to God’s vision for Mountain Park UMC as we go into the world to “Live Jesus and Love our community!” We know God’s abundant love and grace will be spread throughout Gwinnett County and beyond because of the faithfulness of the people at Mountain Park UMC.  Join us as we serve the Lord in 2023 and beyond.

We are connecting our communities with Jesus to transform lives.

Our God Dream (mission) is to connect our communities with Jesus to transform lives. Everything we are doing on a daily basis needs to help us move toward this goal. Every aspect of our church-life and our personal journey of faith should be helping us to make this a consistent reality. Every. Action. Matters.

Are you ready to make a difference?

MAKE YOUR PLEDGE

The first thing we want you to do is to assess where you are in each of the 5 areas of stewardship: your prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness. Next, we want to invite you to make a prayer about where God is leading you to grow in each of those areas. Have a conversation with God and listen to what the next faithful step on your journey of faith is going to be in order to make a difference - you might be surprised by what God is calling you to do!

Once you’ve done these two things, we want you to pledge - or make a commitment - about how you’re going to make an impact for 2023. Download your pledge card and see how to pledge below:
