Jesus charged his disciples to go out and act out the love of God – to be the “hands and feet” of Jesus sent out to reach people with the God’s love. The celebration of Pentecost reminds us and opens us to the power and presence of the Holy Spirit, which prepares us to “reach-out” into our community. Living this out seems even more challenging with the reality of COVID-19 but we look forward to creatively fulfilling this calling and how “reaching” may look different. You’ll be using your own hand as a teaching tool to remember how we can reach out to our community to “Live Jesus. Love Community,” using what’s known as the “Five Finger Prayer.” We’ll also give you at least one prompt each week to help you reach someone in your neighborhood or community.
This week, Pastor Ellynda discusses that reaching and serving the marginalized helps bring God’s hope and light into the world.
SCRIPTURE PASSAGE: Isaiah 58:10 (CEB); 1 Peter 2:9 (CEB)
THIS WEEK’S BIG IDEA: God calls us to open our hearts and our hands to be light to those who are on the margins
