Agape Reconciling Community (ARC) | Spring 2026 Study

The Agape Community (ARC) at MPUMC is once again excited to offer a 7-session Spring class “Faithful and Inclusive: the Bible, Sexuality, and The United Methodist Church.” Join us for thoughtful, prayerful, spirit-led conversations on this important and timely topic. This study, by UMC Pastor Rob Fuquay, takes a deep dive into the bible passages most frequently cited in discussions about homosexuality, LGBTQIA+ Christians, and their relationship with the UMC. It is scripturally based in the Methodist tradition and is focused on making room at our table for all people. There is no cost to attend.

Church Council Meeting and Leadership Training #1 will be held in the Youth Room on Sunday, April 19, 2026 beginning at 12:15pm. Leadership Training will be led by Rev. Dr. Mike Selleck. Lunch will be provided, and everyone is welcome to attend. Please ask attendees to RSVP by calling the church office so that we can prepare lunch adequately.

Traditional Worship in the Sanctuary and Contemporary Worship in the Family Life Center. Both services begin at 11:00am in-person and online.

This special gathering on Easter morning will take place in the church parking lot at 7:00am. Dress appropriate for the weather and bring your own seating if possible. There will be music, prayers, a meditation on the scriptures, and holy communion.

Join us on Friday, April 3rd at 7:00pm in the Sanctuary for an evening of music, prayer, contemplation, and silence as we look to the cross one last time before Easter.

In the dimming light, our Sanctuary Orchestra will play Johann Pachelbel's Praeludium und Fuga, P.416 and our Chancel Choir will sing movements from Vicente Goicoechea's Miserere with soloist Rev. Joe Lee.

The unity of this service will be depicted in an art installation made using the collected lenten prayers from both CWS and TWS. 

Maundy Thursday Dinner & Worship

Join us in the Family Life Center at 5:30pm for our mid-week meal (typically “Wednesday Night Dinner”) but this time on Thursday. RSVP here ($9/person, $20/family of 4). Registration for dinner is required but not for the worship service.

Mountain Park UMC is proud to host The Gay Men’s Chorus of Washington, D.C. who will present songs from their “Body Beautiful” show. This program features songs with a message of love and equality including “Beautiful,” “I Sing the Body Electric,” and “This is Me.”

Led by Artistic Director Thea Kano, the Gay Men’s Chorus of Washington, DC (GMCW) is now in its 45th season. GMCW sings to inspire equality and inclusion with musical performances and education promoting justice and dignity for all. GMCW has more than 250 singing members, three select ensembles, a dance company, a youth chorus, 50 support volunteers, more than 200 subscribers, and an annual audience of more than 10,000 people.

The Chorus and its ensembles keep a very busy schedule with more than 100 outreach performances each season. Past outreach performances have included the HRC National Dinner, performing live on NBC-TV’s The Today Show, an historic LGBTQ music and outreach tour in Ukraine, a first-ever tour by an LGBTQ+ chorus to Cuba, and a special concert in Reykjavik, Iceland. GMCW has performed for President and First Lady Obama, eight consecutive years at President and Dr. Biden’s residence, twice at the Kennedy Center Honors, and as part of the inaugural celebrations for President Obama and President Clinton. Since 2001, the Chorus has maintained a robust youth outreach program, GenOUT, and in 2015, launched the GenOUT Youth Chorus, the first LGBTQ+ and allied youth chorus in the DC metro area. Since its debut, more than 150 singers from 75 area schools have participated in GenOUT. GMCW is a member of Chorus America, the Gay and Lesbian Association of Choruses (GALA Choruses), and the Cultural Alliance of Washington.

On March 15, we will celebrate Laetare Sunday in our worship services at Mountain Park UMC! Laetare means "rejoice!" On the Fourth Sunday in Lent, the Church expresses hope and joy in the midst of our Lenten fasts and penances. We will add pink to our worship spaces, light our pink candles, and wear pink!

During the event, we will share a full Seder meal together. Rabbi Matan will guide us through the seder step-by-step, explaining each part of the tradition as we eat. The menu will include matzah, lamb, soup, and other symbolic foods.  Please register by March 9th.

Our program will feature Aaron from Ennoble Care, a mobile physician service which provides in-home PCP visits as well as in-home hospice, palliative, and home health. He will be discussing and debunking the myths associated with hospice.

Trinity Table - Sunday, March 1, 2026

We will be going to feed the homeless in downtown Atlanta on March 1st.  Ferrell and crew will be cooking the hot meals again.  We need desserts, food for the “to-go” food bags and volunteers to serve the meals.  We also need people to donate new men’s underwear.  

We will leave the church around 11:45am and return around 3:30pm.
