Jim Kilgore Biography–Jim’s 25 plus years in non-profit leadership and business has taken him from his home in South Carolina to over 40 countries around the world. No stranger to personal loss and tragedy, Jim has first-hand wisdom and experience helping families deal with grief. One of the top Family Service Counselors in the country (J.D. Powers). He has helped hundreds of families through grief and pre-need planning. With a blend of compassion, patience and organization he’s helped businesses and individuals become effective at their unique tasks. From Pastor to President, Jim has worked with for profit and nonprofit organizations with coaching, business development, sales, marketing and grief counseling. When not serving families, you’ll find Jim playing cool guitar riffs, loving his 3 grandkids, doing life with his small group at his church and enjoying life with his bride, Grace.

Introductory Spanish Classes at Mountain Park UMC
Tuesdays | 7:00–8:15 p.m. | A Six-Week Exploration

Have you always wanted to learn Spanish? Maybe you already know a few words and phrases and would love to build your confidence?

Join us at Mountain Park United Methodist Church for a six-week introductory Spanish course designed to make learning welcoming, practical, and fun. Whether you’re starting from scratch or brushing up on the basics, this class will help you begin developing useful Spanish-language skills while learning alongside others in our community.

But this class is about more than learning another language. Language helps us encounter one another. As we learn, we hope to grow in curiosity, cultural understanding, compassion, and our ability to be good neighbors in an increasingly diverse community.

Meet Our Instructor
We are delighted to welcome Natalia Parra to the Mountain Park UMC community!

Natalia is a native Spanish speaker, originally from Colombia, and a bilingual, Georgia-certified educator and engagement professional. She brings more than five years of experience strengthening family-school partnerships, increasing student engagement, and supporting student success through community-centered initiatives.

Natalia has studied at institutions in Madrid, Spain; Wooster, Ohio; and Nashville, Tennessee, and currently teaches Spanish at Hopkins Elementary. Her experience as both an educator and native speaker makes her a wonderful guide for those beginning their Spanish-language journey.

The course is limited to 20 participants, so early registration is encouraged.
Mountain Park UMC members: $60 for the six-week course.

More Than Words
We don’t expect six weeks to make anyone fluent, and that isn’t really the goal.

Our hope is that learning even a little of another person’s language can help us listen more carefully, approach our neighbors with greater humility, and become more comfortable crossing the boundaries that too often keep communities apart.

We’re learning Spanish because we want to become better neighbors. We hope this experience helps cultivate greater cultural competency, deeper compassion, and, in one small but meaningful way, a little more peace in our community.

Trinity Table - Sunday, September 27, 2026

We will be going to feed the homeless in downtown Atlanta on September 27th.  Ferrell and crew will be cooking the hot meals again.  We need desserts, food for the “to-go” food bags and volunteers to serve the meals.  We also need people to donate new men’s underwear (SM, M, L, XL).  Please use the signup link below to join us as we Live Jesus and Love Community.

LCM is excited to announce their upcoming Annual Golf Fundraiser! This event is an important opportunity for our community to come together, enjoy a day of fellowship, and raise much-needed funds to support the work of the Lilburn Cooperative Ministry.

Kumanta Choir Auditions

Time: August 29 | 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM or by appointment 

Kumanta Youth Choir was founded in 2023 by a group of Filipino American mothers and their children who shared a love of music and community. Since its inception, the choir has delighted audiences by participating in concerts at MPUMC, sharing their voices and celebrating the joy of singing together. As we continue to grow, we warmly invite new members (ages 7-17) from the community to join us. All are welcome! No prior choir experience is necessary. The only requirement is a desire to sing. Whether you're an experienced vocalist or simply love making music with others, you'll find a welcoming and supportive community in
