We’ll look at the Exodus into the Wilderness in the Old Testament and Jesus’ experience with the Wilderness from the Gospel of Matthew. Our Contemporary Service will focus in on serving, even when we are in the Wilderness. Learning how God uses our Wilderness moments to refine and define who we are as Children of God. Pastor Amy will be offering the Word through preaching in the Traditional Service.

For the fixth and sixth Sundays of our Essentials of Faith series, we will be learning about how we “stay salty” and continue being the salt of the earth and the light of the world to those around us through keeping sabbath and witnessing. What comes after Thanksgiving? Advent! So what exactly is Advent? On the calendar, it is the four Sundays leading up to Christmas. Advent comes from the Latin word Adventus which means “arrival” or “coming.” This season is about anticipating the birth of Jesus Christ, who came to bring salvation to the world. We reflect on the waiting and longing the Israelites experienced before the Word was made flesh and came to dwell among God’s people. Through Jesus’ birth, God would bring hope, peace, joy, and love to people everywhere. During the Advent season, we celebrate the Hope that was born long ago and continues to live in our hearts today! As followers of Jesus, we seek to share this Hope to those around us through the peace, joy, and love that we give throughout this special season. We hope you will join us in this time of anticipation, preparation, and celebration! Our focus for the first Sunday of Advent is “Hope.”
