Introductory Spanish Classes at Mountain Park UMC
Tuesdays | 7:00–8:15 p.m. | A Six-Week Exploration

Have you always wanted to learn Spanish? Maybe you already know a few words and phrases and would love to build your confidence?

Join us at Mountain Park United Methodist Church for a six-week introductory Spanish course designed to make learning welcoming, practical, and fun. Whether you’re starting from scratch or brushing up on the basics, this class will help you begin developing useful Spanish-language skills while learning alongside others in our community.

But this class is about more than learning another language. Language helps us encounter one another. As we learn, we hope to grow in curiosity, cultural understanding, compassion, and our ability to be good neighbors in an increasingly diverse community.

Meet Our Instructor
We are delighted to welcome Natalia Parra to the Mountain Park UMC community!

Natalia is a native Spanish speaker, originally from Colombia, and a bilingual, Georgia-certified educator and engagement professional. She brings more than five years of experience strengthening family-school partnerships, increasing student engagement, and supporting student success through community-centered initiatives.

Natalia has studied at institutions in Madrid, Spain; Wooster, Ohio; and Nashville, Tennessee, and currently teaches Spanish at Hopkins Elementary. Her experience as both an educator and native speaker makes her a wonderful guide for those beginning their Spanish-language journey.

Classes meet on Tuesdays from 7:00–8:15 p.m.

Registration
The course is limited to 20 participants, so early registration is encouraged.
Mountain Park UMC members: $60 for the six-week course.
Community participants: $90 for the six-week course.

More Than Words
We don’t expect six weeks to make anyone fluent, and that isn’t really the goal.

Our hope is that learning even a little of another person’s language can help us listen more carefully, approach our neighbors with greater humility, and become more comfortable crossing the boundaries that too often keep communities apart.

We’re learning Spanish because we want to become better neighbors. We hope this experience helps cultivate greater cultural competency, deeper compassion, and, in one small but meaningful way, a little more peace in our community.
