Rev. Dr. Mike Owenby

Rev. Dr. Michael Owenby (Mike) – Minister of Music Ministries, gives leadership to the Chancel Choir and Traditional Worship Music, developing a graded choir and instrumental program for Children, Youth and Adults.  

Mike is an Ordained Deacon from the Alabama-West Florida Annual Conference who joined our staff February 1, 2019, after serving in roles of Music Ministry for over 35 years.  He has a B.A. in Church Music from Huntingdon College, an M.A.R. in Church Music from Asbury Theological Seminary, and a Doctor of Worship Studies from the Robert Webber Institute for Worship Studies in Jacksonville, FL.  

Mike loves to laugh with his wife Lisa and grown children – Hannah and Caleb, build relationships with family and friends, play stringed instruments, build and repair things, ride motorcycle, and teach Bible Study.

Mike is inspired by God’s vision: of people, living – growing - and dying in faith, having passion to tell others about God’s faithful plan through His Son Jesus Christ.   Favorite Psalm: 46. Favorite Epistle: John 1

Mike’s inspiration in ministry comes from God’s Word and God’s call on him to serve.  “I am humbled by Believers who trust in the Lord in the midst of strife – those who give their all for God’s kingdom and never look back.”   “My singing is a prayer of praise.”
