Musical Opportunities for Everyone!

Choirs

Children’s Choirs

Cherub Choir (3 years old by September 1 of this year-through 4 years old)

Wednesday: 6:15-7:00 p.m.

Room 110

This introductory choir will have the opportunity to learn songs in a setting that is welcoming, educational and lots of fun.  The use of movement and rhythm will be emphasized. The Cherub Choir will participate in the worship services in the fall and spring

Carol Choir (Kindergarten – 1st Grade)

Wednesday: 6:15- 7:00 p.m.

Room 107

This choir builds on the concepts offered in Cherub Choir.  Orff instruments will be used as well as rhythm instruments. Basic note reading will be introduced and vocal production will be emphasized along with worship readiness skills and basic hymn singing. These young musicians will participate in worship services in the fall and spring.

Cross Crew Choir (2nd – 5th Grade)

Wednesday: 6:15-7:00 p.m.

Room 109

This setting offers the opportunity to build on the music fundamentals and vocal production. Children will add sight-reading and part-singing to their musical skill set along with expanded worship readiness and hymn singing.  Rehearsals will incorporate the preparation of a musical to be presented in worship.  The choir will participate periodically in worship services.

Crosswinds Youth Choir (6th to 12th grade)

Meets on Sundays from 4:00 to 5:00 pm in the Choir Suite

This ensemble is open to all youth in 6th – 12th grades.  Building on the skills learned in Junior Choir, this ensemble will continue to hone their musical skills as they address vocal techniques, correct breathing, phrasing, musicality, sight-reading and understanding musical terminology.  This ensemble sings in the 8:30 worship service monthly.  Please contact Susan at 770-921-8512 ext. 226 or susan.farris@mountainparkumc.org.

Chancel Choir

Meets on Wednesdays from 7:30-9:00 pm in the Choir Suite

The Chancel Choir is open to all high school and college students and adults.  This ensemble rehearses weekly to prepare literature of all genres for Sunday worship services.  In addition, this choir presents major choral works with orchestra in both the fall and spring.  Nursery is available upon request.  For more information please contact Susan Farris at 770-921-8512 ext. 226 or susan.farris@mountainparkumc.org

Chamber Choir

The Chamber Choir is an auditioned ensemble of 16-20 voices.  This chamber ensemble prepares university level literature of all genres to sing in worship and as concert material to be shared with the Atlanta Community.  For more information please contact Susan Farris at 770-921-8512 ext. 226 or susan.farris@mountainparkumc.org

Bells

Covenant Ringers (Adults)

Meets on Thursdays from 6:15 to 7:15 pm in the Bell Suite

This bell choir, consisting of 12 players, is both a teaching and performance ensemble that rings in worship bi-monthly.  Literature is chosen from various genres and is medium in difficulty.  Ringing in this bell choir will prepare you for the advanced ensemble.

Genesis Ringers (3rd to 8th grade)

Meets on Wednesday at 7:00 pm to 7:30 in the Bell Suite.

This bell ensemble is geared towards the beginning ringer. Basic note reading, counting and ringing will be explored. This ensemble plays occasionally in Sunday morning worship.

Four-In-Hand (Adults)

A select group of ringers (by invitation) comprise this small bell ensemble, which performs 4-in-hand literature.  The music is difficult and extremely challenging for even the most advanced ringers.  This ensemble rehearses and performs on an “as needed” basis.
